Creating Quality Dvd Duplications From Home
The process of duplicating DVDs at home can be time-consuming, but it doesn't have to be. Anyone who wants to be a publisher can be; all it takes is a well-organized studio. If you're serious about being a publisher and creating quality DVD duplications from your home, you'll need to think about what equipment you're going to buy and where you're going to put it.
Equipment
Quantity isn't enough. Quality makes all the difference in self-publishing. When looking at equipment, remember the old axiom "you get what you pay for" and choose accordingly.
DVD Duplicators
For professional DVD duplication, you'll need a multi-drive machine that can burn several discs at a time. "Multi-drive" machines have one read drive and one or more write drives. Some take manual loads; others are auto-loading. There are several options here, depending on your needs and budget:
- Stand alone towers - Stand-alone towers don't have to be attached to your PC. A standard stand-alone tower has one read drive and either one or multiple write drives (up to fifteen). The prices can range from as little as $350 to as much as $2500 or more, louboutin, depending on the number of write drives.
- Stand alone towers with printing capabilities - Other stand-alone towers do it all, providing DVD duplications as well as copying the text and/or graphic labels. As soon as the copy is finished, the DVD can go directly into the packaging. Prices range from $750 and above, again depending on the number of write drives.
- Autoloaders - Autoloaders are another consideration. While they don't have the same write drive capacity (1 - 8 drives standard),air jordan pas cher, they do all the loading and unloading themselves. Small autoloaders, with 1 - 3 write drives, hollister, can hold anywhere from 25 to 200 discs ready for copying. Large autoloaders, with 4 - 8 drives, louboutin pas cher, have a disc hold capacity of 500 - 1000 discs at a time. Autoloaders start at around $450 and up, depending on size and capacity.
There are pros and cons for each. For instance, standard stand-alone towers require manual loading and unloading, louboutin, while autoloader choices have lower numbers of write drives.
When choosing whether to buy a standard stand-alone or an autoloader, decide which one fits your needs and budget best. One of the things to consider is the duplication speed and connectivity of your potential choices, so pay attention to the specifications.
Connectors
For serious mass DVD duplication, you can buy tower connectors. Tower connectors create a "daisy chain effect", allowing you to link multiple towers to a master source. The master source then does exactly what the name implies, running all connected towers at the same time through an easy-to-use interface.

- Daisy chain towers - These towers have the ability to connect as few as two towers and as many as 60,000. A big bonus to using a daisy chain tower is that it also has read/write drives, hollister france, and acts as a duplicator itself. While a normal home DVD duplication project doesn't need 60,000 towers, mass production is definitely easier to achieve. Prices start at $1,000 and go up from there.
Printers
If you don't choose a tower with text and graphic (Light Scribe) capabilities, you'll need to add a printer to your duplication equipment. Due to the number of available types of printers, make sure you read the specifications to see if a particular printer meets your needs:
- Ink jet printers - Ink jet printers produce high quality, barbour sale, high resolution, full color graphics on labels rather than directly on the disc. As with towers, there are options for manual loading or auto loading, and many autoloaders have the capability to hold up to 300 discs at a time for mass printing needs. Prices start at $250 and up.
- Thermal printers - Thermal printers bond the graphics and/or text directly to the DVD. The print is smudge and water proof, with no chance of color bleeding, smearing or mess. As with ink jet printers, thermal printers have the options for manual loading or auto loading and can hold up to 300 discs. Prices start at $300.
Media and Packaging
Last but not least is choosing the type of media to use. Make sure that the media you choose is specific to the printer. Some types of media are better for thermal printers, while others work better with ink jet printers:
- LightScribe DVDs use laser labeling and a special coating that lets the labels be etched onto the disc. Since the labels aren't printed, there's no smudging, smearing, hollister, peeling or ink bleed. LightScribe media starts at $15 and goes up, depending on the number of DVDs in the pack you choose.
- Blank media - Blank media has many options, including choices between thermal printable, inkjet printable or LightScribe, air jordan, among others. They also have color choices for the printable surface, as well as a double-sided option for a higher GB amount. As with LightScribe media, the prices start at $15 and up, depending on amount and type of blank media you choose.
- Water-resistant media - Water-resistant media is exactly that. The printed surface is secured to the disc in a way that makes it water-resistant - no smearing or bleeding. This type of media is specifically made for inkjet printers as a low cost option to thermal printing. Pricing starts at $15 and up,doudoune moncler, depending on package size.
- Packaging - DVD cases offer several options, all depending on how you want your finished package to look, including color and size options. Packaging prices vary depending on type and size.
Location
If you're serious about publishing, hollister france, meaning you plan on duplicating more than fifty or a hundred DVDs, location is an important consideration. You want to use some place in your home out of normal traffic areas. After all, a moment's inattention with a coffee cup could ruin all those careful duplicated DVDs.
A long table with strong legs or a strong desk is always preferable, due to the machinery you'll be using. Make sure the surface is somewhat flat, not sloped by the ground or uneven table legs and that it stays clean. A good, air jordan pas cher, sturdy desk can range in price from $100 to $1000 or more, but is well worth the cost.
Creating quality DVD duplications from home is not an insurmountable task. It's definitely possible to produce both quality and quantity, as long as you have the right equipment and setup.
