TUSCALOOSA, Alabama The phone rang shortly after Sarah Patterson arrived for the Crimson Tide's practice Saturday.
The call was from softball coach Patrick Murphy who was in College Station, Texas, for Alabama's series at Texas A so the Alabama gymnastics coach knew right away that the news wasn't good. A state of shock overtook her when she learned that her longtime friend and boss, Mal Moore, had passed away at Duke University Medical Center.
The emotions were hard to fight back, but Patterson's mind promptly shifted into coach mode. She gathered the team's managers and other staff members and urged them not to disclose the news until the end of practice. Patterson didn't want her gymnasts to be distracted because distracted gymnasts are more likely to injure themselves.
"It was kind of hard to get through," Patterson said. "Toward the end, athletes and their

When I found out he was going to Duke,hogan scarpe, that was kind of a shock and in my mind, I'm a researcher. I knew that it was not good when I found out that they had transported him to Duke. The biggest thing now is probably without a doubt through my entire career he's the best fundraiser. When he walks into a room, everyone knows he's there. He's a difference maker. His hiring of coach Saban. That's first and foremost in my mind in what was a department changer. We ride on the private plane going to a speaking engagements and you will hear him tell the stories. He was a great storyteller,air jordan homme, the things he would say. That was a game changer when he got coach Saban.
I always laughed when Mal would talk about fundraising,jordan pas cher, I laughed one time because he had a check for $250,hogan,000 fall out of his coat pocket. I picked it up and said, 'Mal you're about to lose this. You need to keep raising this money because everybody knows how to spend it.' He had a way of raising money that when he asked for it, I don't know how people turned him down. When you look at what he did for all of our facilities, how he changed the whole dynamic, I don't think there have been very many people that have that type of persuasion,hogan online, personality and power.
When he named the new Champions Plaza in your honor, how did that illustrate your special connection to him?
I was in shock when I heard it was going to be named after me,hogan sneakers. I had no idea. I just think it was a tremendous honor to have that done but I know it wouldn't have happened without him.
I went to practice today and I drove in and,hogan milano, at the time I didn't know, I looked at the football building and I looked at the construction that was going on, and I thought I'll have the opportunity for our names to cross each other for the rest of time.
My heart goes out to the whole university family. He meant a lot to a lot of people. When you think about and you realize someone's gone, you're like, 'Oh my gosh.'
I think of all the great conversations we had. I think about the disagreements we had. The one thing I respect so much was whether Mal or I agreed or disagreed on something, he always let me share my opinion. He wouldn't walk in with one voice. I appreciated the opportunity to express my opinion. And he'd always listen.
